Hollywood’s superstar producers are vying for the right to make Britney Spears’ memoir The Woman in Me into a movie, reports Forbes. The book was published at the end of October and topped the New York Times bestseller list for the third week in a row.
Wanting to make a biopic about it are Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Shonda Rhimes and Reese Witherspoon. All of them own production companies.
According to sources, the price tag for the deal is already up to 4 million dollars. This is an enormous sum even for such a successful manuscript, the publication notes. At the same time, however, there are also more expensive offers. Some of the producers who own the rights to the bestseller want Spears herself. Sources familiar with this bidding war said they are willing to invest 40 million dollars in such a project.
