How to care for oily facial skin

by Vladimir Levitsky

What a cream should be
Even if your skin is oily and feels dehydrated, it’s important to apply a moisturizer after every facial cleansing. And in summer, look for a product that contains broad-spectrum sun protection with SPF 30 or higher.

It’s best if the cream is water-based and doesn’t contain ingredients that can cause black spots (comedogenic substances). For example, the popular coconut oil. The same rule applies to all cosmetics.

What other products can you add to your oily skin care routine?
If you wish, you can also use masks that absorb a little sebum and moisturizing serums, if these are suitable for you.

And to avoid excessive shine, you can blot your face with a mattifying cloth or powder after applying make-up.

What you shouldn’t do if you have oily skin
Basically, everyone should avoid it:

Try not to touch your face unnecessarily with your hands, especially dirty hands.
Don’t forget to apply sunscreen.
Don’t choose cosmetics based on reviews from friends or bloggers. Some products work well, but not for you, such as the two-phase oil cleanser.
When to see a dermatologist for oily skin
Oily skin in itself is not a problem, it’s a normal condition. However, if you are concerned about excessive shine or rashes, you should see a dermatologist who can advise you on how to correct the condition.
